Fall 2023 Flag Football Skills Session is a football skills development program that will see two independent classes meet on Thursdays with participants grouped by grade level (K-1st/ 2nd- 3rd).

Participants will learn/review the fundamental components of the game of football and the skills required for success. The intention of this program is to see each child develop a love for the game, an understanding of the different roles/positions required for participation, and to reinforce the value of teamwork.

This once a week class will see "practices" evolve into "games" as we progress with game understanding and basic skill mastery.

How To Register:

  • Registration for this program, and all other CBS After School FUN-damental Sports Programs as well as most programs offered by Junction Place Sportsplex, can be completed using our online registration data base (powered by Active Camp & Class Platform).
  • This specific class registration can be found on our CBS Lower After School FUN-demantal Sports Programs registration link found here

What Equipment Does Your Child Need:

  • In short- nothing! Your child will be able to participate in any CBS After School Sports class wearing just the shoes/clothes they go to school with! However.....
  • We do have time, staff and resources to help your child change into comfortable, athletic clothing should you choose to send your child. Any items left (clothes, shoes, backpack, lunch kits, etc) will be placed in the CBS Lost and Found station near the auditorium
  • Snacks/Water - again, this is not a requirement for participation, however, if you would like to send your child with a light snack and/or a reusable bottle of water, we will have time prior to the start of class to allow for eating and refilling water bottles. Our play space does include access to water fountains so if your child doesn't have a water bottle, they will still have plenty of opportunity to hydrate before, during and after classes!

PROGRAM COMMUNICATION

  • As this program is operated by Junction Place Sportsplex (and not Christian Brothers Lower School) we will serve as your main point of communication for all things CBS Lower After School FUN-demantal Sports Programs!
  • Our website, and specifically our CBS After School Sports webpage, will be the best starting spot for general information and registration for these programs!
  • When you register, you will receive an automated email confirmation (that will also serve as your receipt) from our main email address- info@junctionplacesportsplex.com . You can reply or compose messages to that email address, but, for most things ..
  • Texting JPLEX Main Line @ 504-356-1812 is the most efficient way to inform us, ensure the proper parties receive and respond to your message! Especially messages like, "is practice cancelled due to the weather?", "Johnny/ Jane won't be able to make it today", "Johnny/Jane's will be going home with Timmy/Tammy's grandmother today", "Johnny/Jane will need to go to after-care at the end of practice today"
  • Weather Alerts/Cancellations: On days when it is obvious there is no weather threat, we will simply move forward as scheduled with no communication from us. On days when inclement weather looks as though it could impact our class, messages/alerts from us to you will see this flow chart: -> Decision made to cancel or move forward by 12:30 PM on day of event -> Decision relayed via email from info@junctionplacesportsplex.com with request you reply "got it" -> If no reply via email, between 1:30 & 2:00 parents/guardians will get a text message from 504-356-1812 -> phone calls will be made if we have not received a confirmation of your receipt after email/text (we will only text/call you IF the decision was to CANCEL and IF we haven't received that confirmed "got it" email)

DISMISSAL

  • Plan for dismissal is to have parents/guardians or approved pick-ups from the black rod-iron gate on CANAL St between the church and school building (you will have the chance to list any additional names at the time of registration OR you can simply text us from one of phone numbers listed on your registration to add names)
  • Dismissal is from 4:30-4:40 PM, anyone not picked up by 4:40 and who did not give us prior notice of their child going to CBS After-School Care, will get a quick text/call from us to see if you are close. If no answer, they will roll over to CBS After-School Care and will need to be signed out and picked up using the cafeteria entrance on Olympia St.
